Cast your mind back to 1999, or specifically, the music scene of that year.
Chart-topping heavyweights such as Britney Spears, Steps, Ricky Martin, Lou Bega and Eiffel 64 (remember THAT song?) dominated the airwaves.
It was also the year that saw rapper Eminem start to win over a huge fan base with The Slim Shady LP.
One song in particular from that album has come to people’s attention again, because of the secret hidden message contained within.
Remember My Name Is?
The song was Eminem’s second ever single, and impressively climbed up the UK charts to reach number two.
As we know, Eminem is a master of clever wordplay, and My Name Is has proved to be no exception.
Because as well as being a catchy almost-debut, if you play the song backwards, you’ll hear a hidden message.
So, during the chorus, rather than hearing the usual lines of “My name is, my name is, my name is.”
You instead hear “It’s Eminem, it’s Eminem, it’s Eminem, it’s slim.”
The discovery was made public by YouTube user It doesn’t matter who we are, what matters is our plan who had been playing around with the track.
We somehow don’t think Steps and Eiffel 64 were doing the same thing on their records.
